Uttaran - Dantewada inaugurated

Dantewada wth a literacy rate of mere 30.01, is the least literate district in the entire India. It is also the district having lowest male literacy rate in India(39.59%). Over the last year, more than 350 people have been killed and 50,000 moved into camps in the Dantewada district, as a result of a Maoist uprising. As a result hundreds of children have been orphaned. Sarva Shikha Abhiyan has started initiative to educate many children in relief cams. But the orphan children are mostly left to the mercy of relatives.

Considering the above problems TF started Uttran - Dantewada with 50 orphan girls (7-12 years of age) with the following objectives: 

1. Providing bridging facilities to 50 out-of-school orphan girls.
2. Providing upward linkage facilities to these girls so that they are able to complete graduation.
3. Arranging/conducting professional courses to these girls with the aim to improve their employability.
4. Placing the girls in suitable jobs/business/entrepreneurship after completion of graduation and professional/technical training.
5. Providing after rehabilitation care.

On 15th January, 2010 this project was inaugurated by Commissioner of Bastar Division and District Collector – Dantewada.
