The best performing teacher of 2009-2010: Ms. Soma Chakraborty

Since last year we have started give an award to the best performing teacher from Tf Mother Project. Last year Ms. Jaya Majumdar was the recipient of this award. This year Ms. Soma Chakraborty has been selected as the 'best performing teacher'.

On 23rd June, 2010 Hon. Ambassador of Bioethics and Corporate Social Responsibility, Government of France inaugurated TF Hole-in-the-Wall project.

ERAI India and French Embassy raised over 6500 € for TF

ERAI India and French Embassy organized a charity programme on May 8th in New Delhi, to support the development of an exchange program initiated between young Indians, and their counterparts of Sport dans la Ville in Lyon. 24 corporate houses from Delhi partcipated in a 5 side football tournament and thereby contributed for the cause.

TF child Arnab now is now a TCS man

Three years back our president Mrs.Ranju Ghosh spotted an appeal in ETV news channel. The appeal was from a distressed father, himself a polio victim, asking for educational support for his son Arnab Ghosh. Arnab, hailing from a remote area in Jhargram of Paschim medinipur, was in sheer dilemma because he had cleared the Joint Entrance Examination but had no means to go ahead.

TF personnel in a very short time collected Arnab’s residential address contacting ETV Hyderbad head office and the family was contacted.

Mission Renovation

In March, 2010 a group of 12 volunteers from 3 Suisses helped the children of Tomorrow's Foundation by renovating 3 centres which are used to run bridge courses for out-of-school children under our Community Based Education Project (CBEP).

TF - Sport dans la Ville Sports Exchange Programme

Tomorrow's Foundation collaborated with Sport dans la Ville, France to conduct a 7 day long sports exchange programme between deprived children of Kolkata and France. The children will practice football, play friendly matches, learn new skills and visit historical and important places.

Uttaran - Dantewada inaugurated

Dantewada wth a literacy rate of mere 30.01, is the least literate district in the entire India. It is also the district having lowest male literacy rate in India(39.59%). Over the last year, more than 350 people have been killed and 50,000 moved into camps in the Dantewada district, as a result of a Maoist uprising. As a result hundreds of children have been orphaned. Sarva Shikha Abhiyan has started initiative to educate many children in relief cams. But the orphan children are mostly left to the mercy of relatives.

Diganta: Towards making government schools accountable to the poor

Diganta means horizon in Bengali - the horizon where the sky and the earth appear to meet with each other - otherwise they are miles apart - and it seems we have to walk a long distance to reach the horizon.

Making government schools accountable to the poor is like reaching a horizon. In normal circumstances the parents and the government schools are far apart.
