Like every year we had
a set of targets to achieve to reach our goal. It involved projects,
programs, decisions, individual as well as group performance
strengthening our belief to set standards. The entire process has to
flow in from the place of origin - the field office. It was extremely
important for us to set up and implement operations through a new Field
Office this year. The new Field office thus became functional in April
2004.
It's been a universal
dream to transform the world around us to a promising computer literate
zone. Special efforts have been given towards making this delightfully
possible through our very own Computer Literacy Program in April 04.
In order to unfold our
philosophy it is necessary to run a perfect model school project,
setting trends towards ideal and eventful operations. To carve out the
same path for all, the Model School took off in April 2004
For adolescents, life
can have a different yet beautiful meaning where "skills" is
the name of the game. Potential talents would always excel if given a
direction in life aided by their skill set. Education support on the
other hand would strengthen their background to give a full shape to the
designated career. This time with 40 dropouts, we have been providing
them training on skill through the vocational training institutions and
education through open school system. We have undertaken a project, hand
in hand with GOAL.
To take our in-house
vocational training center and production unit to new heights, we have
formed a new set up for TF's very own Card Project cell. Besides
training on the process intricacies - techniques, exchanges of design
idea, innovative treatments are encouraged along with archiving and
laying tracks on a regular basis. We have also introduced Trade Based
education classes for the students undergoing vocational training.
Regular and periodic
healthcare has always been on absolute priority for the children at TF.
This time we have introduced weekly health clinic for all community
children. This program took off in October 2004. Special emphasis is
laid on sensitivities in relation to eye and dental care along with
general check-up. Every week we cover a minimum of 50 children.
The year 2004 had
credible academic achievements. Six students from the formal school and
five students studying under the open school system have passed out the
Secondary examination. Munmun today has a First Division to her credit,
a reason for all of us at TF to be proud of from the core of our heart.
This time three
students have passed through the Higher Secondary Examination. Samir
Bayan, a Higher Secondary pass out got a job at CITY CENTRE in July-
2004.
Knowledge is wisdom and
indeed so was the realization for the three students who have taken up
college level course after passing Higher Secondary Examinaion.
It's the teacher who
shows light and with that motto and definite interest, two students have
joined the Teachers Training Program.
Two students have been
assigned the position of assistant Teacher in our Model School. We have also initiated Higher Secondary through
Open School system this
year
Besides the 40 students
under goal project there are 10 more adolescent candidates who are
directly supported by us. All of them undergo vocational training and
get educational support.
Among them seven boys
and one girl have procured driving license. Interestingly, they foresee
life as a long drive to run through with a smile on their face.
Life is indeed
beautiful for the three girls who got their Certificate qualifying
through the beautician course.
It is extremely
important for the co-coordinators at TF to remain constantly updated on
their own set of expertise. Representatives from TF periodically join
various Training Programs, workshops, seminars, exhibitions organized by
various NGOs / City Level NGOs net work / Social Studies Institute. We
have been a part of the Weekly community awareness program on
collaboration with NGOs network team.
In July 2004, we have
been entrusted upon to coordinate AIDE UNIVERSITY summer project. It was
very dearly organized and was an absolute success. We have also been a
part of the Hygiene project with them, the following month.
It's been a pleasure to
have the representative from Calcutta -de-la visiting TF.
Individual sponsorship
is an exclusive affair. It requires concerted effort to persuade and
convincingly justify the vision. This time we have been successful to
achieve the same for three of our students.
TF had always been
tremendously supportive towards the sports enthusiasts. It enables
maintaining a perfect balance between the mind and body. Subrata Debnath
- a Kick Boxer on the 56 KG category has won the first position at the
National Level.
Yoga is as essential as
nutrition at TF. The National Level Yoga championship has two achievers
- Rajkumar on the 3rd Position and Sangeeta on the 10th. Rajkumar
eventually got through to the special Yoga course admission this year.
For the intra-city
co-curricular activities, the Drama Team was not far behind. It's on the
4th Position. Our primary level children took part in Painting
competition within the city.
The amazing world of
science appeared bright and exciting to the Students from class VIII and
IX, on joining the All Bengal Science Exhibition organized by Birla
Industrial and Technological Museum.
Ronan was here. Foot
Ball Day was a very special and involving event to us as with the Help
of Ronan - an Irish footballer, the students had a whale of a time.
Activities at TF are
always as dynamic as our operations. Across all the cells we have
organized 34 parents teachers meetings, five cultural programs, two
Cinema shows and four picnics. The AIDE university students were as much
involved in the picnic as the cultural exchange program that we have had
the pleasure of having with them.
We could successfully
put few "high risk- vulnerable" children in residential
schools, in primary as well as the secondary level. Providing mental
health support to the children in need was indeed a priority
involvement. Purnima, Mamoni Sarkar and Shankar Ghosh are the three
candidates who had major operation.
 We had two major
get-togethers
this time. The first one was during the Saraswati Puja,
devoted to the goddess of knowledge and wisdom on the auspicious
occasion. The next one was on 1st of August 2004, inaugurating the New
Building for our Half Way Home. We had a Christmas celebration at TF and
the Punjabi Samity hosted one.
Invitations were flying
all over to attain workshops, programs, seminars, and training for the
staff members as well as the students. We have also received few
students from the various Social Studies Institutes as placement
students. We have had a one-day special counseling workshop with Urmi
Chakravarti.
On a joint invitation
from Joyprakash Institute, Social Welfare Department and National School
of Social Defense, from 11th to 13th March, we have attended a seminar
on J.J.Act with Arpan as a participant and Ashish as a guest lecturer
from TF.
We had scheduled visits throughout the year from representatives of the
Government Authority to mark our activities. Representative from
Directorate of Social Welfare visited our organization Representative
from District Primary Education Program (both District and State level)
under Sarba Sikha Avijan visited our organization. We have also been
fruitful in establishing new contacts building relationship with many
organizations, govt. authorities, agencies and friends.
There have been valued
inclusions to strengthen the TF staff team. At present we are a team of
54 people at TF. |
